Jailbreak Still Possible If You Update To iOS 7.0.2

With the release last week of iOS 7.0.2 to all iOS 7 compatible devices, a lot of people have been wondering whether or not updating their devices would hinder any chances of a future jailbreak. Well if you have been wondering, we have good news for you today.

The developers behind the jailbreaks haven't showed their hands just yet so it is highly unlikely that a new firmware release is going to hinder their progress. Thankfully though, MuscleNerd from the Evad3rs team has taken to twitter to confirm that those iOS 7 users looking to update their devices to iOS 7.0.2 can go ahead without any need to worry. MuscleNerd stated on twitter that Apple had provided an excessive amount of detail in their update notice and that since nothing about iOS 7.0.2 suggests that Apple has tried to implement any anti-jailbreak measures, it would be safe for all existing iOS 7 users to update without any kind of risk to a future jailbreak.

It goes without saying, that if you are still on iOS 6.x and enjoying a jailbreak, you should stay where you are as there is currently no estimated date for an iOS 7 jailbreak.

It often takes months of searching for security holes and extensive testing before a jailbreak is released to the public. Evad3rs have delivered a jailbreak in the past for iOS 6 and Cydia fans will be hoping that they can do the same with iOS 7. It does appear that Apple has implemented some new features and made changes based on popular jailbreak tweaks but the jailbreak scene will continue to thrive as long as iOS remains a closed source entity. The ability to tweak and alter the general experience beyond the mere installation of apps has become something of an institution to many idevice users. A jailbreak used to be easy for hackers to achieve, but Apple has gone to great lengths to ensure the process is now as tricky as possible.

As always, we will keep you updated on any jailbreak information we receive so be sure to stay tuned to our posts.

Download iOS 7.0.2 For iPhone 5s, 5, 4s, 4 Now

First released on the 18th of September, iOS 7 has been updated for the second time and iOS 7.0.2 for iPhone 5s, 5, 4s, 4, iPad and iPod touch has now been released. The initial update was followed very quickly by iOS 7.0.1 for the newer devices on the market and now iOS 7.0.2 for all iOS 7 compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touches has been released.

As with any new release of iOS, iOS 7 has had its fair share of teething problems in particular the security lapses that have been found through the new lock screen. A couple of days after the release of iOS 7, a bug was found that allowed a potential intruder to access private information via the new control center. By following a few simple steps, a video demonstrated just how easy it was for someone to access email and photos on a locked device. A short term solution was to disable the control center on the lock screen but iOS 7.0.2 should see this problem eradicated.

A couple of days later, there was another lock screen bug that allowed calls to be made on a locked device by exploiting the emergency call feature. Instead of typing in an emergency number, you could actually type in any number you wanted and by repeatedly pressing the green call button the call would go through. This has also been fixed in iOS 7.0.2.

Apart from fixing these bugs, Apple has reintroduced the Greek keyboard option for passcode entry. If you are one of the many waiting for its return you will be happy.

Apple prides itself on keeping security issues to a minimum and has been very swift in its response to these problems. If you are running iOS 7 on any device, we recommend that you go ahead and download the update using iTunes or the OTA feature within your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch settings screen.

Jailbreak For iOS 7, 6.1.4/6.1.3 Update

As you probably already know, iOS 7 launched last week and there are more than 200 million devices already using this new firmware. We are not here to talk to you about iOS 7 today or how many people are using it, we are here to talk about the progress being made with a jailbreak for this firmware.

We have been tracking the progress of the upcoming untethered jailbreak over the last few weeks and we are delighted to report that the people behind this project have released a video demonstrating this untethered jailbreak in action. This jailbreak is still a little buggy but progress is being made and iH8sn0w has also shed some additional light on the iOS, 6.1.3/6.1.4 A5+ jailbreak status.

On his blog, iH8sn0w confirms that Apple has now officially closed the ability for users to downgrade back to iOS 6.1.x from iOS 7. The good news is that it has been confirmed that everything that is required for the iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 untethered jailbreak on A5+ devices is in place. The problem being faced at the moment is fixing internal bugs that simply cannot be shipped with a public jailbreak. This was confirmed by Winocm who is apparently the main person behind this jailbreak.

The current issues facing the team involve native apps on the device managing to delete themselves as well as problems surrounding the activation of iMessage and FaceTime.

That's great news for those running iOS 6.1.4 or 6.1.3 but what about iOS 7? Well we know that the Evad3rs team is currently exploring iOS 7 exploits and we also know that Cydia, MobileSubstrate and WinterBoard are all broken on the latest firmware so a jailbreak is a good bit off yet.

Attention is also being paid to the latest version of iTunes which was released with iOS 7. It seems that iTunes 11.1 completely kills custom firmware restores on iOS 7 for A4 and below devices. IH8sn0w is currently working on a fix that can be implemented into future versions of Sn0wbreeze and iFaith.

So there you have it, all iOS 6.1.x users will have a jailbreak very soon but the iOS 7 jailbreak is still being worked on. We will of course keep you updated with any information we receive.

Some Hidden iOS 7 Features You Might Not Know About

It has arrived, yes we are talking about iOS 7 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and there are plenty of features just waiting to be explored. In today's post we want to take a look at some of these hidden iOS 7 features that you might not be aware of.

The first of these is that you can use Safari to see tweets with links/URLs in them. This is a great way to quickly see all the tweets in your timeline that have links in them. All you have to do is launch Safari and press the bookmarks button. Next press the @ button on the top and all your tweets will appear. Obviously you have to be signed into your twitter account in your settings for this feature to work.

If you don't like the new thin font size that comes with iOS 7 you can change it. Maybe not that much but you can make it bold. Just go to Settings > General > Accessibility > and enable Bold text. If you want to change the font that is easy too. All you have to do is go to Settings > General > Text size and adjust the font to whatever you like.

If you want to block callers and unwanted messages this new feature is great. Open up the contact you don't want calling you and then just scroll all the way down their details and just tap the block this caller. That's all you have to do. If you want to manage blocked messages, go to Settings > Messages > Blocked.

You can now use Siri to enable or disable system toggles. All you have to do is launch Siri and say Turn on Wi-Fi or whatever it is you want to do. In iOS 7 you can now use swipe gestures to go back one screen. This is a great feature and save having to press the back button on the display.

There are lots more little hidden gems that you will probably come across and you become familiar with iOS 7 but for now these few tips should help you along.

It's Here iPhone 5S and 5C Now On Sale Worldwide

The day has finally arrived when the iPhone 5S and 5C have hit the stores. These models are now on sale in 11 countries around the world. The launch of the more expensive flagship iPhone 5s is more significant as it is the first smartphone to have a fingerprint sensor and a 64 bit processor. This new device is also the first iPhone to ever ship in three colors. The iPhone 5C which is the budget iPhone is also available and if you haven't already made up your mind which one is for you let us help you out.

It was rumored that the iPhone 5s would have a 128GB storage option but this hasn't turned out to be the case. You can by an iPhone 5s with 16GB, 34GB and 64GB of storage. Which one you choose will depend on your usage habits and how many different tasks you rely on your phone to do. We could still see a 128GB model come on stream at a later date.

The iPhone 5S is the first to ship in 3 colors and the new Gold color has been quite a talking point. Accompanying this new champagne-like color is a space gray option which is similar to the black iPhone 5 and there is also the Silver model. The color you choose is a matter of personal choice.

When deciding between an unlocked model or a contract model there are advantages and disadvantages to both. If you sign up for a contract your get your iPhone for a lot cheaper. The problem with this is that most contracts run for 18 months to two years and with a new iPhone coming on stream every year you might not want to do this. The cost of buying an unlocked iPhone is of course much dearer and if you don't want to spend several hundreds of dollars then a contract could be the option for you.

The iPhone 5c has also been released although it hasn't been very well received. Pre-orders for iPhone tend to be quite high and they are only available for a day or two. That being said, the iPhone 5c can still be pre-ordered and this is now tens days after the announcement so it doesn't look very good for this model. The iPhone 5c is the cheaper, budget iPhone and it comes in a different shell, has a slightly bumped battery life and one or two other tweaks. If you are looking for a good smartphone that is capable of completing almost any task for general users then the iPhone 5c could be a great choice. It might not have the aluminum chasis but it still looks great and is available in five vibrant colors. The choice is yours, will you choose the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c?

Today Is The Release Day For iOS 7

Today sees the official release for iOS 7. This new firmware update represents a total overhaul to Apple's mobile OS and only time will tell what the public reaction will be. If you are in ownership of a device that is capable of running iOS 7, then you will need to back it up today before upgrading to the new iOS 7.

Apple release iOS 7 to the world today and if you want to be one of the first to get your hands on it then you need to make sure that you take note of the release schedule that can be found on the Apple website and get ready to upgrade as soon as it is available in your location. If we look at the release times of all the major iOS releases, almost all of the iOS 7 beta builds were released at 10am PDT. All of Apple's previous major iOS releases also went live to the public at 10am PT and if these are anything to go by, it is safe to say that iOS 7 will be released to the public at 10am PT in the United States.

Like everyone else, we are looking forward to this release and we want all our readers to be ready to grab this update as soon as it becomes available. If you are a UK resident then you release time will be approximately 6pm GMT. If you live in Sydney, Australia, 3am is when you will be able to get your hands on iOS 7. There is a chart on the Apple website that gives all the release times for iOS 7 for countries all over the world so be sure to go and check it out.

No matter where you reside, if you are planning to upgrade to iOS 7 you need to make sure that you backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using iTunes or iCloud and save your SHSH blobs for iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 using a program like TinyUmbrella or iFaith so that you have the option of downgrading in the future should you need to.

As soon as Apple flips the release switch we will see iOS 7 updates starting to filter down to devices as an Over-The-Air update. It will also be available as a direct download for those who want to perform an upgrade using iTunes. IOS 7 is compatible with the iPad 2 (or above), iPad mini, iPhone 4 (or above) and the 5th generation iPod touch.

This is the day we have all been waiting for and we can't wait to hear your opinions on the new iOS 7 so be sure to leave your comments once you have upgraded.

Pod2g Confirms Working On iOS 7 Jailbreak For iPhone

Since the release of iOS 7 is set for the 18th of September, the next big questions on everyone's lips is whether or not there will be an iOS 7 jailbreak. Well we are happy to report that there is some good news on this front and Pod2g has confirmed that work is ongoing on a jailbreak for iOS 7.

In a tweet by Pod2g, who is a prominent member of the Evad3rs team, it was stated work is ongoing as regards having a jailbreak for iOS 7. Apple seeded iOS 7 GM download to developers last week and this saw the Evad3rs team actively begin their investigations into the final version of iOS 7 to see which of their exploits worked and which ones didn't. Judging by Pod2g's tweet, progress is definitely being made and if you are someone who is looking forward to a jailbreak on Apple's latest firmware release then this really is good news.

We should also mention, that if you are currently using a jailbreak on iOS 6 and you want to keep your untethered jailbreak, you should refrain from updating to iOS 7 when Apple releases it later this week. Despite progress being made on the the jailbreak for iOS 7, there is no ETA on its release and everyone is advised to wait for more confirmation before updating their software.

As with all new releases of Apple's iOS, we do have to be patient and hope that a jailbreak will be released as quickly as possible. The good news for everyone is that it is being actively worked on and we will be bring you the updates as soon as we get them.

What's Happening With The iOS 7 Jailbreak For iPhone

Now that iOS 7 is out, attention has of course turned to whether or not an iOS 7 jailbreak will be possible. In this post, we want to look at all the details we have so far starting from the last iOS 6 jailbreak.

The first thing we can definitely say is that progress is being made but that those of your hoping for a jailbreak very soon are going to be disappointed. Jailbreaks take time and often a couple of months before we see anything concrete. It is more likely that we won't see anything until iOS 7.1 or further. The good news though is that certain members of the jailbreak community have found some exploits and they are working to see if these can be turned into a jailbreak.

Planetbeing who is a member of the Evad3rs team has been on Twitter to confirm that they are looking into the iOS 7 GM which was released to developers. He also went on to say that his team has achieved unsigned userland based code execution in iOS 7 and they are going to start exploring the kernel next. It is still too early to make anything out of this but it is great to see that the Evad3rs team are actively working on jailbreaking iOS 7.

Since the launch of Evasi0n which provided an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and was later patch by Apple with iOS 6.1.3, there has been some recent breakthroughs. It seems that iOS 6.1.4 has been jailbroken by Winocm which is again great news for those who lost their jailbreak by updating their firmware.

If you are running a jailbroken iOS device and you want to keep it intact, or you are running iOS 6.1.4 and in need of a jailbreak, do not upgrade to iOS 7 until you receive further confirmation from either Evad3rs or Winocm. We will keep you updated with everything that happens and as soon as we have any information on a jailbreak for iOS 7 you will be the first to know.

Comparing The iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C And The iPhone 4S

The Apple event yesterday, 10th September, saw the discontinuing of the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S is still there along with the new iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. To help you with your buying decision, Apple has created a comparison chart of the three models that you can view on their website.

One of the key factors when choosing which iPhone to buy is going to be the price. The iPhone 5S starts at $199 subsidized by a two year contract and this runs all the way up to $399 for those who are looking for the high end 64GB model. The iPhone 5C is priced between $99 and $199 which is considerably different and the iPhone 4S costs nothing on contract. With pricing out of the way, it will boil down to internals and specifications.

If you are looking for LTE you will have to choose between the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 5C as the iPhone 4S doesn't support this. LTE is going to future proof your device and purchasing a 4G LTE compliant model is definitely advised.

The iPhone 4S comes with a very capable A5 chip whilst the iPhone 5C comes with the A6 chip. The A7 chip is a big step up and this is available in the iPhone 5S. Animations will be smoother and every day tasks will be much quicker. If cameras are your thing, you should take note that the cameras have gotten progressively stronger since the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5C has the same camera as the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S features True Tone flash which brings more realistic lighting in dark situations and is generally better than the iPhone 5.

It is strange to see the iPhone 5 being removed from existence and is now basically obsolete. What's left for you to decide now is what iPhone you choose to buy. Again the full specs comparison table is available on the Apple website and worth taking a look at before you make your decision.

Jailbreak For iOS 6.1.4 on iPhone 5

Evasi0n was the first ever untethered jailbreak for the iOS 6 was patched by Apple in iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4. There was reports that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 was still possible but that it was not publicly available as it needed a little work. Today we have some great news for those running iOS 6.1.4 on the iPhone 5.

iOS 6.1.4 was released in May for the iPhone 5 and we can report that users can now jailbreak this. Developer Winocm, who achieved the untethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.3 last week, tweeted an image of iOS 6.1.4 running Cydia on an iPhone 5. Details are still a little scarce and we can only assume that progress is being made and Winocm's exploit is indeed capable of jailbreaking iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4.

For all those users out there eagerly awaiting an untethered jailbreak and who are uninterested in Apple's new iOS 7, it is recommended that you ignore any software updates on your iOS device and wait for further confirmation on this untethered iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 jailbreak. If you are already running iOS 6 all the way up to iOS 6.1.2 you can still jailbreak using Evasi0n on all iOS devices.

Some of the code that is required to jailbreak iOS 6.1.4 has been made public by Winocm but the downside to this is that is is not like most public jailbreaks. If you are looking to download an executable and have your iPhone jailbroken in seconds this is not for you. This code is just part of the magic required to get Cydia installed on an iPhone and users who choose this route will need to have their own kernel exploits in order to get the ball rolling. This is however a big start and with iOS 7 just around the corner we are sure there are plenty of people who would be only too happy to stick with iOS 6 if an untethered jailbreak is on the way.

Apple To Announce New Apple TV During September Event

The September 10th event is just days away now and Apple have officially confirmed that they will be holding an event on this day. Most of the talk surrounding this event has been about the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, both of which are expected to be shown off publicly for the first time with their release happening about two weeks later. Another Apple product that is thought to be refreshed is the Apple TV.

The Apple TV has been growing in features with each software update and with iOS 7 just around the corner this is set to continue. You can only do so much with software however and at some point the internals need to be upgraded too. We have heard a rumor that Apple is going to release a new Apple TV on the 10th of September too.

New York based platform Panjiva believes that this might actually be the case. According to Panjiva, Apple took delivery of a shipment labelled as containing a set top box with communication function on the 25th of August this year. This shipment came from BYD Precision Manufacture in Shenzhen. A week before this on the 18th of August, a similar shipment arrived labelled as set top boxes.

Now we know this doesn't prove anything but it is interesting and with the September 10th iPhone event just a few days away, it is possible that the Apple TV will see a refresh too. As with all rumors, we do have to wait for official information and in this case that is only a couple of days.

Apple Sends Separate Invites For Chinese iPhone Launch On September 11

Apple have sent out additional invitation for a Chinese iPhone launch event that will take place on the 11th of September. This event will take place in Beijing. The event invitations are the same suggesting that the broad theme for the two announcements will be the same. These events are said to be satellite launches with further events being held in Tokyo and Berlin.

Apple is expected to announce the launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C as well as the official iOS 7. Apple CEO Tim Cook has been visiting Chinese carrier officials and we presume that this is to trash out a deal that would see the iPhone coming to China Mobile. Apple is working hard to bolster its image in China with the huge potential market in the region being something that Tim Cook doesn't want to ignore. Apple is also reportedly considering building a research and development center in the region too.

Currently, Google's Android is the top selling in China and this is mostly due to the fact that the iPhone doesn't have an official carrier in this country. If Tim Cook has managed to broker a deal with China Mobile, it will see the iPhone launch following the September 11th event. We don't know whether both iPhone will launch but the iPhone 5C seems to be a very good bet.

This is the first time that Apple has held a special event for the Chinese press only and it may signal a new focus for the company moving forward.

What We Expect With The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Apple's September event is only a week away now and we will finally have the official announcement for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. For the first time ever this iPhone announcement will see not one but two handsets being announced. So what are we expecting, let's take a look at what the rumors have told us so far.

The iPhone 5S is set to be the new top of the line iPhone and the iPhone 5C is going to be a low cost, budget iPhone. The iPhone 5S is going to have a faster processor with the A7 chip going into it. The home button is also going to feature a fingerprint sensor. This will mean that users are able to unlock their device without having to enter a PIN code. The iPhone 5S is also set to launch with a dual-LED flash that can be found on other highend smartphones as well as a 12 megapixel sensor with better low light performance. The iPhone 5S will largely resemble the iPhone 5 and the main exception is the possibility of a new champagne/gold color. The iPhone 5S is expected to have storage options all the way up to 128GB.

The iPhone 5C is the budget iPhone and we are assuming that the C stands for color. This iPhone will come in a plastic shell and it is suspected that the innards will be a mix of the iPhone 5 and 4S. This device will also come with an 8 megapixel camera. The iPhone 5C with its plastic shell will come in a range of colors that resemble an iPod with its bright and shiny chassis. The color options are white, yellow, blue/cyan, red and green. It is rumored that the price for the iPhone 5C will be between $300 and $400 for the unlocked version.

With less than a week to go, we can't wait to hear the official announcement and see how many of the rumors were in fact true.
