Apple To Release iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 Together

Chris Whitmore who is an analyst at Deutsche Bank has released a report stating that Apple are due to release two iPhone versions this September. He has stated that a lower end model known as the iPhone 4S and a higher end model known as the iPhone 5 will be made available so that Apple can target customers with lower budgets.

Whitmore also went on to state that Apple may actually be trying to capitalize on struggling smartphone platfors such as Blackberry, Nokia and RIMM in a bid to win over a different range of customers.

The iPhone 5 is set to be the direct successor to the iPhone 4 with the iPhone 4S meeting the needs of the lower end customers. It is thought that the iPhone 4S will be a prepaid cell phone priced at $350 with plans that are similar to the ones found on the iPad today. This will allow users to pay for the data or calls that they require when they need them.

We really have no way of verifying what Whitmore is reporting and this is just more speculation to add to the speculation that we have already seen about Apples next generation iPhone.

Over the last few months we have seen numerous reports about the new iPhone so I guess we really will have to wait and see whether Apple do release two new iPhone models in September. What do you think of having a pre-pay iPhone? Would you be interested in purchasing a commitment free iPhone?

iOS 5 Will Stop SHSH Firmware Downgrades

It has just been reported that the new iOS 5 is going to halt SHSH firmware downgrades on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This is really bad news for all those jailbreakers and it comes as the Dev Team begin explaining what Apples iOS 5 betas are revealing. It seems Apple is determined to combat SHSH blobs moving forward and Apple are aggressively combating the replay attacks that have allowed users to use iTunes to restore to previous firmware versions using saved SHSH blobs.

Apple has stated to make more use of the APTicket once you install iOS 5 and beyond and they will be checking on each boot of an iDevice. The problem for jailbreakers is that the APTicket will be uniquely generated every time an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is restored and this means that existing methods of saving SHSH blobs will no longer work. Apple are also making sure that they are the only ones that will know what the APTicket should be.

APTIcket is changing starting with iOS 5 and it is being used like the BBTicket. The LLB and iBoot stages of the boot sequence are also being refined to depend on the authenticity of the APTicket. This is going to happen at every boot and because Apple has the crypto keys to properly sign the per-restore APTicket, replayed APTickets are useless.

According to the Dev Team this points to a new approach from Apple but until Apple brings out the final release of iOS 5 the Dev Team are still guessing at what Apple are planning to do.

There is still a little bit of good news for jailbreakers and Geohots Limera1n which takes effect before any APTicket checks are made could still provide a tethered jailbreak solution. As this is also only going to affect restores starting at iOS 5 and onward Geohots Limera1n exploit will work and so should any other tethered jailbreaks.

Apple Cuts iPhone 4 Orders Ahead Of iPhone 5 Launch

According to reports, Apple has told its suppliers to assemble less iPhone 4 models ahead of the next model launch which should take place this autumn. iPad orders remain strong and the same so nothing new to expect here.

According to an industry source, supplier have seen disappointing orders from Apple and this has nothing to do with iPhone 4 sales because this iDevice is still a hot seller. Instead it is being reported that Apple is likely preparing the release of a next generation iPhone which is expected to be announced in September. The new model many are claiming will be the iPhone 5 and will probably look similar to the current generation iPhone.

iPad orders are still really great and they are expected to grow 70% next quarter to 8 million units since no new model is in sight at the moment.

Rumors of a future iPhone have been doing the round for months now and this is what happened with previous iPhone releases too. Reports initially pointed to a major upgrade but this seems less likely thanks to model images that have been leaked. It is expected that the new model will have similar features but more RAM and a faster processor are expected as is a larger 8 megapixel camera.

Like all the rumors and reports we really do have to take them all with a pinch of salt because until Apple actually release their next generation iPhone we really wont know exactly what to expect.

WiFi Booster Helps Enhance Wi-Fi Signal Strength On iPhone

The jailbreak community have been hard at work over the past few weeks announcing some great new tweaks. The latest one to add to the list is an iOS Wi-Fi settings app. This new app is called WiFi Booster and this small tweak makes a couple of very interesting alterations to the Settings apps WiFi options also making them more useful in the process.

The main feature of the WiFi Booster tweak is to reduce the signal threshold at which WiFi hotspots are shown in Settings. By default all hotspots with a perceived quality below a set threshold are hidden from users and the reason for this is so that you dont connect to networks that Apple deems too far away. After installing WiFi Booster the threshold is removed which means that all networks that are detected are shown to users.

The other feature that is pretty great in this tweak is the ability to check the MAC address of the router running the network. This address is shown beneath the name of the network inside your settings.

The WiFi Booster can be downloaded from the Cydia store for just $1.99 and if you plan on getting this app all you have to do is make sure that you have a jailbroken iOS device.

This new WeeFacebook widget is the latest in a line of widgets that are being put together by developers to take advantage of the new notification centre that comes with iOS 5. Apple have yet to confirm that widgets will be available in the App store but we are sure they are aware of the possibilities and we sure to jump on the bandwagon.

If the WeeFacebook widget sounds good to you then you will need to have a jailbroken version of Apples iOS 5 beta in order to take advantage of it. These widgets are not available through Cydia so you will have to manually install them.

Next from your pc download the file from https://github.com/mgebele/WeeFacebookDeb and then run iPhone Explorer and copy and paste the file you have downloaded.

Next launch MobileTerminal and switch to administrator mode by typing login and then root. Next you have to enter your password which should be alpine unless you have changed it. Next enter the text below.
